More epiphanies and red sandstone!

I need to confess something that dawned on me yeasterday.
I was trying to do a brief summary of 2012 and attempting to mentally prepare myself for 2013.
Obviously enough, the highlight of my year (among other things) was a trip to India that I went on in August. Needless to say, it was an amazing experience which I will never forget.
And no only will I never forget it, I reckon I will never be able to fully realise and accept the fact that I was actually there. It's hard enough to look at the map of the world and the Indian penisula and think: I was there! It's too unreal.
Anyways, what I remember most about the experience is the fact that I found myself immersed in the beauty of the local trees. I've never been particularly keen on geology, biology or any other branch of knowledge similar to the aforementioned, so it came as a surprise to me. Yet whenever I was sightseeing, I marvelled at their beauty.
Now I know why! I realised that yesterday as I was going through photos from Delhi, Pushkar and Chandigarh.
Did you know that basically every single building in India (I'm obviously generalising here) is made of old red sandstone? Additionally, did you know that when trees are put against such a background, they look amazingly well and exceptionally green? That is why I was so astonished and entranced with them! And I have to say that after I had gone back home from India, I went through all of the possible kinds of trees naturally occurring in India: none of them looked that well on the photos when standing alone! But when put in contrast of red sandstone, they are beautiful!
This teaches us something about life, doesn't it? :)

Happy New Year's Eve everyone!
Hope you have a good one x

We'll see how it goes.
